Algund enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year! Thanks to its protected valley location by the mountain range of the Texelgruppe, Algund has a Mediterranean microclimate with lots of sun and mild temperatures. Due to the favourable climate, Mediterranean plants such as palms, cypresses, laurel, myrtles and cedars thrive and blossom here. It is not for nothing that Algund is also called the garden village.

For culinary enjoyment, there are numerous restaurants, pizzerias and excellent cafés available in Algund.


The SPA town

Alpine-mediterranean, culturally highly interesting, charming… Meran fascinates with its diversity. Those who spend a holiday in Algund will also fall under the spell of the famous spa town, but at the same time enjoy the wonderful tranquillity and landscape of the garden village of Algund. In just a few minutes by public transport or by car you can reach the centre of Meran from Algund and there you will immediately experience the fascination of a town that is a true bridge between north and south. Enjoy a sunny walk along the famous Tappeinerweg with a view over Merano or along the Passer promenade close to the centre or stroll through the pretty alleys, which invite you to go shopping with their numerous boutiques.

Trauttmansdorff Castle

From the city centre you can walk to the gardens of Trauttsmansdorff Castle, once the winter residence of Empress Sisi, today probably one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy. Plants from all over the world thrive here in more than 80 garden landscapes. Experience stations, artists’ pavilions, guided tours through themed gardens and a wide range of cultural activities make the gardens of Trauttsmansdorff Castle a natural experience for all the senses that you should not miss.
